Beyond the gate, in a world of its own, lies our little kennel - a refuge for unwanted Jack Russell Terriers that come from shelters or homes where they are no longer welcome. It is a place of peace and understanding, offering the opportunity to heal from the traumas imposed on them simply for being what they are.

The following dogs are not housed at the Refuge but are posted as a courtesy to their owners/foster homes. If you are interested in the possible adoption of one of these terriers, please complete an on-line adoption application. Do not be shy about adding additional comments. It will help us to get to know you better. Our goal is to place terriers in happy, forever homes where the adopting party and dogs are both winners. Thank you for considering a Jack Russell Terrier! We also have terriers that are housed at the Refuge that are available for adoption.

Harley Sex: Male Age: 2 years Coat: Smooth Color: Brown/white Available Apply to Adopt       Donation for Harley Harley is a young, neutered male who gets along with other dogs but can be a bit selective in his choice of companions. Located in Manlius, New York (near Syracuse.) We will refer interested adoptors to this home upon receipt of an adoption application.   Manlius, NY		Molly II Sex: Female Age: 3 years Coat: Smooth Color: Brown/white Available Apply to Adopt       Donation for Molly II Molly is vaccinated and spayed and is fostered in a small private rescue in Thunder Bay Ontario. She is a energetic dog in need of plenty of exercise. Molly is very sweet and bouncy and loves a good game of ball. Molly gets along with other dogs but is best fed alone, otherwise she enjoys another dogs company. Molly would benefit from a strong "alpha leader", she is sweet dog but very bossy. Molly would excel with flyball or agility or similar activity she is very agile and runs like the wind.   Ontario, NA		Molly III Sex: Female Age: 2 years Coat: Smooth Color: Brown/white Available Apply to Adopt       Donation for Molly III This girl is petite and sweet! This adorable little Jack Russell mix was found as a stray, but is in great shape. She's about 1-2 years old, and is a real "people person" -- she just can't wait to launch herself into your lap and cover you with kisses Molly may be tiny, but she has energy to burn and a brain the size of a planet... so if you're looking for an agility or flyball partner, Molly's your girl! In typical terrier fashion, she can be fussy about which dogs she chooses to be friends with, so she might be perfect for someone who's looking for a pampered-princess "only dog." Skippy Sex: Male Age: 3 years Coat: Rough Color: Brown/white Available Apply to Adopt       Donation for Skippy Skippy can be protective of his owner and will take the dominant role if permitted. The right home for Skippy is a home that will allow him to be the JRT that he is, but help him understand that he does not have to take the leader role and just have fun. Skippy loves to play catch with his ball and is great with other dogs, however, he does not get along with cats. Skippy would do best in an adult only home with JRT experience. Due to his protectiveness, Skippy cannot go to a home with children. Skippy is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. He is housetrained.   Rhinebeck, NY		Smores Sex: Male Age: 3 years Coat: Smooth Color: Brown Available Apply to Adopt       Donation for Smores Smores is a 3 yr old male Jack Russell/Blue Tick Hound mix, yet he weighs in at about 30 lbs. Still small enough to not knock over your furniture! Smores is a gentleman with adults, children and other dogs. Smores is completely house trained. He has a little food dish aggression, but that's about his only quirk. Sadly the homeowner's association is going "non-pet" as of June 1st, so Smores needs a loving home quickly. He is currently at home in Coxackie, NY, not too far from the Refuge. Applications should be filled in on line here. We will be able to arrange for Smores to be here at the Refuge should you be the lucky applicant!   Coxackie, NY		Casey Sex: Female Age: 6 years Coat: Smooth Color: Tri-color Available Apply to Adopt       Donation for Casey Casey is a 6 year old female spayed JRT. She is up to date on all of her shots. She is good with big dogs and little dogs although she will try to be the dominate one if around only little dogs. She is also fine around cats and adult or older children. She is not OK with small children and although we are working on socializing her, strangers have to take it slow when introducing themselves to her because she is so fearful. Once she gets to know you though she is full of love and kisses! She has a cataract in her left eye and a food allergy. We have her on Diamond Naturals dog food and that seems to be working to clear up her skin rash.   Middle Island, NY
